I am about to do a new thing;
now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
and rivers in the desert.
— Isaiah 43:19

I like to see things made new.

From trampled hearts and abused earth to worn out sweaters and the barren city block, I love a good revival. There is no such thing as worthlessness, no such thing as waste, no such thing as a completely lost cause.

There is always a chance for new life.

God is in the business of making all things new. FOR THE BIRDS is a record and diary of one woman’s partnering with God in this creative and reconciling work in the world.

There is much to be said about global warming, the perverted food industry, and how the privileged life of the few wreaks havoc on this good creation and all her members. I will discuss these realities.

However, this blog is first about taking practical steps toward a more faithful, just, and sustainable way of being human. It is about moving in response to the movement of God. It is about re-membering oneself as part of creation while glimpsing the green of a new Kingdom.

Most of all, FOR THE BIRDS is about hope—pointing toward what is within our reach, and toward the One who is already reaching for us.
