Answer Me This, Again!

Answer Me This, Again! - Grocery Shopping, A Big Sister Brag, & I Heart NPR

I am answering 'em again with Kendra and the gang at Catholic All Year. I discovered her blog a few weeks ago, tried the link up last week, and it was such fun!

SO, without further ado and just because I wanna, Answer Me This...

1. What's your favorite grocery store splurge?

Groceries are a big ticket item in our home. We try for local, organic, fairly traded, and minimal packaging (if packaged at all) for the sake of our bodies, our community, and the planet.

All that adds up a bit, but I would rather pay the farmer than the doctor if you know what I mean.

I REALLY look forward to seasons’ harvests from our backyard sometime in the future.  Until then, we shell out to pig out.

There are two things that call out to me:

Really—REALLY—good cheese. I haven’t learned to make my own (yet). And Peach Kefir. It’s like a freakin’ milkshake. I haven’t bought any in over a year because of that plastic bottle, but OOOOooh, I crave it sometimes.

2. How's your penwomanship?

I like it. It reflects my mood, tone, and general energy at a certain time. It is most illuminating and a tad bit entertaining when I thumb through old diaries.

I was REAL excited when God was talking to me about that Thing:

Aaron has difficulty making out my more, uh, abstract pieces. There is normally a grocery list involved, but I don’t know anyone who takes time for anything but scribbles on a grocery list.

3. Do you have a "Summer Bucket List?"

Right now my Summer Bucket List consists of Pack. Move. Survive. :) The big move is in three days!

I am also looking forward to two very special weddings for four of my very favorite people.

Two of which are my first brother and his high school sweetheart.

Warning: Big Sister Brag Moment! Just LOOK at them! A police officer and a registered nurse. A goof ball and a “baboo.” And their hashtag is #onceuponacoyle. I mean, COME ON! <3

In other news, early fall is looking pretty exciting:

  • Start seminary(!!!!!!!!!!!!!).
  • Slay a dragon. Michaelmas 2015. It’s going down.
  • Make new friends.
  • Celebrate 50 years of faithfulness (and honey-do lists). Way to go, Grandma & Grandpa Cothran!
  • Explore Old Salem just as the leaves start to turn.

4. What's the best thing on the radio right now?

Okay, confession. I LOVE music, but ya can't beat that NPR.

iheartnpr_web_250x250_stacked.jpg

It's really my main news source. I kinda feel like if I turn the car radio to anything else I will lose complete touch with the rest of the world. We don’t have cable (or even a TV for that matter).

So. There’s that. I haven’t the slightest notion as to the American Top 40.

For your enjoyment, however, here's one of my favorite songs:

And I did just finish reading Harry Potter for the first time (I know, I know) and thought this was hilarious:

5. Ice cream or frozen yogurt?

UMMMMM.

Best Thing in the Whole World = my family’s homechurned peanut butter ice cream

Best thing in Atlanta = The Yogurt Tap's almond butter froyo

End of discussion.
