Happy ordination day, darling.

Today is Aaron's first ordination day, and, around here, that is cause for celebration. It is kind of like a birthday, kind of like a--well, I don't know. It's his ordination day. Whoop whoop!

One year ago today Aaron was ordained.

He was set apart, pulled in, and completely recognized by our Baptist community as the faithful minister God called him to be.

We were prayed over, made over.

He was bolstered and challenged from the pulpit and in quiet, personal moments.

We feasted on Word and gingerbread preacher cookies.

Our friends and family showed up and showed out (love you all).

He became that which he is called—Reverend Aaron Coyle-Carr.

I am thankful and proud to stand beside my partner.

Today we are anticipating another big step of faith.

The reverend is becoming a pastor.

In just under two weeks Aaron will be installed as pastor at New Bessemer Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC.

We cannot wait to be a part of this gracious community of believers, knowing full well the joys and challenges we will face together by the grace of God.

This is what he was made for. This is what we were made for.

“You are God’s servants gifted with dreams and visions
Upon us rest the grace of God like flames of fire
May we love and serve the Lord in the strength of the spirit
May the deep peace of Christ be with you
The strong arms of God sustain you
And the power of the Holy Spirit strengthen you in every way”

Happy ordination day, darling.
