A Harvest Hootenanny

To celebrate Michaelmas and get to know our new community, we threw a Harvest Hootenanny. My Aunt Monica came in to spend the weekend with us; her help and company was a gift!

Here’s what it looked like.

Aaron welcomed everyone around the fire where they’d pulled up camp chairs or found a spot on the porch.

We had local brats, Aaron’s homemade blackberry lemonade, and lots of goodies brought in by our friends. This was the first big meal that we’ve shared with others since the pandemic began — a blessing!

Heather’s pumpkin bars were out of this world!

The resident storyteller beguiled us with tales of wonky donkeys and other such adventures.

Young and old got the chance to slay the nasty dragon after we read Revelation 12!

Our closest neighbors stayed late to help us see the fire out. As we sat together as the night got quiet, I noticed how wonderful the twinkly lights were — Hen had insisted upon them and I’m glad that she did.
