Holy Week was a walk in the real

Holy Week was a walk in the real.

I love traditions and engaging ritual tried and true. I really wanted to make hot cross buns this year for Good Friday, yeasted and everything. But, between Holy Week services, Easter prep, and regular responsibilities, I was getting stressed.

This stress was normal and to be expected, maybe — BUT THIS TIME I NOTICED IT.

I was able to catch the rising feeling of unease, the subtle shortening of my breath, the irritable edges, etc. And, as the Spirit nudged, I asked if there might be another way.

What else could be possible? Where’s the narrow path? The rooted way?

Friends, here’re hot crossed biscuits served strawberry shortcake style.

They ended up being a heavy snack before the Good Friday service that saw us through to our little supper after.

They ended up being just right.

They ended up helping me stay connected to what’s really real, an ongoing Conversation that might just be the point after all.
