We stand on shoulders
Been garden planning this week for an eight by ten foot spot of potential in the side yard.
The woman two tenants back had her son put in a fence to keep the deer from munching greens. We’re the better for her boldness (the fence posts are cemented in place).
Our first draft is a raised bed key-hole garden of about 55 square feet that is absolutely out of our budget, but it’s a place to start. It’s the starting from scratch that’s the hardest. Glad that there is not too much in life that has to be done that way, despite what capitalism’s “entrepreneurial spirit” would have us believe.
We stand on shoulders.
We dig gardens long tended.
We are not alone.
